Squish climbed into bed with us last night, sometime while it was still very dark. It could have been 3:00, or 4:00, or 5:00. It doesn’t matter. He was there, lying next to me, which he never does. And I let him. I was too tired to figure out why he was there and what I should do, so he stayed.
By 7:00am the other two had joined us, and we all slept together for an hour more.
That never happens. Our kids always sleep in their own beds.
But I’m grateful that it happened, and that it happened today of all days.
Now to the Lord sing praises,
All you within this place,
And with true love and brotherhood
Each other now embrace;
This holy tide of Christmas
All other doth deface.
O tidings of comfort and joy,
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy.
