Venus passed in front of the sun on Tuesday. This was basically a once-in-a-lifetime event. We were pretty excited to catch a glimpse of it. Of course, I did not prepare for it in anyway, like make a shadow box or purchase special glasses that would allow us to actually look at the sun. But it didn’t matter anyway because when the event began it was completely overcast in Utah. And really cold. I did not want to be outside. The sun did eventually make an appearance. By then it was too late for us. We missed it. I comfort myself in knowing that there will be other once-in-a-lifetime events that we will be able to take part in. And also, we can watch NASA’s HD video of it all we want.
And if you want to read a good story about it (which you are clearly not going to find here), head over to my friend James Best’s blog. He’s done it justice.
