Note on Times and Seasons

Part of living in a small apartment with no outdoor space in a big city with lots of things to do is feeling like I need to take advantage of it all. We always need to be outside, or at a museum, or riding bikes around the block, or something.
But we also need naptime, and bedtime, and time to just chill. And this pregnancy I have been a little frustrated with myself for being the reason we haven’t gone out as much. It’s hard for me to be the that needs time to rest. It was especially difficult for me because we had such a mild winter and I knew that within a few months we’ll have a new baby and a kid to take to school everyday.
Things will change, yes. And we’ll adapt. And then they’ll change again. And we’ll adapt again.
And in a few years no one will need naptime. Maybe not even me.

Just found your blog and LOVE it!!! I have two boys and am a runner as well:) I live in the suburbs of NYC and I still feel the need to always be doing something-parks, library, downtown, playmates, etc. But we LOVE our naptime-it’s a sacred couple hours in our house that I will not sacrifice-I totally know what you mean! Looking forward to reading more!

Hi Julie! So glad you like my blog! And I’m glad you can relate to the need to be out and doing things. These days I don’t know what I would do without naptime, though. My 2-year-old needs his naps, but I need his naps more.
