Power Song: Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes

In one of my college apartments, where I lived with five other girls and one bathroom, we made the most of the situation by taping pieces of paper to the bathroom wall so we could write notes to each other.

For some reason that memory popped into my head today while I was out for my morning run.

Okay, there was a reason for it, and the reason is this: of all the jokes and quotes, questions and answers, conversations and stories that filled those papers, the only thing I remember specifically was this question: “What does falling in love feel like?”

And this answer: “It feels like coming home.”

And this morning as I ran around the park, I was simultaneously rocking out to “Home” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes and remembering how true that answer rang to me then and how it still rings true to me now. So I ran faster so I could get home. To Micah and the boys.

Bonus points if you can help me out: there was another song I listened to that had a similar theme: I am at home with you. It was a girl singing it. It was played on the Adele station on Pandora. That isn’t much to go on, I know, but anybody have any ideas of what song it is? Or who sings it?

  1. I totally rock out while running to that song as well. The other “home” song that is on many of my playlists is Home by Marc Broussard, if that’s not the one you heard on Pandora, you should check it out, he’s amazing and that song just makes you smile!
