Going Camping

We’re spending tonight in a tent. In the great outdoors. The weather forecast for our campsite looks like this:

But we’ve been planning this for months. The boys are so excited. Manchild was up until 11:00 last night telling us how he couldn’t wait until the morning so we could go camping. (He also told us, a few weeks ago, that he thought that once we got to the campground, he would want to go home. We’ve been warned.) And my sister is running a race near our campsite and we want to cheer her on. So there’s no backing out.

Rain notwithstanding, we’re geared up for a great time. I made a batch of granola bars. I bought a package of oreos. We’ll bring a couple of decks of cards and play games and nibble on our treats until not even the rain falling on our tent can keep us awake. I’m pretty sure it’s going to be best camping trip ever.

At least for the boys, who have never been camping before.
