Best Laid Plans

I didn’t make a birthday cake today. I didn’t wrap presents. I didn’t make meatballs or cake balls or ball melons for the Ball we were planning to have tomorrow but had to postpone. I didn’t play birthday games. I didn’t go for a run or to the park or to the store. I didn’t make a special birthday dinner. I didn’t do a lot of things I’d planned to do.

But I did clean up throw-up. And diarrhea. I did call the doctor. I did wash some very messy clothes. I did feed my baby clear liquids and soft food. And I did hold him for a long, long time.

I think that is all he wanted for his birthday.

  1. Poor little guy and poor mom. Hope he feels better soon. A first birthday never to forget…

Indeed. I just can’t wait until he gets better so we can really celebrate.

  2. somehow squishy must have transported his sickness across space and time down to the south slope where sweet P has been throwing up in our hands since Friday (I say hands because the throw up bucket scares him and he refuses to be near it)

I’m sorry. Way to be brave and use your hands. I took Squish to the sink if I saw it coming and was quick enough. I hope he is feeling better.
