My friend Heather had a baby in May. She’s running her first post-baby 5K in October. My friend Amy is having a baby in October, but before he comes, she’d like to run (or walk) a 5K as well. I think I’m going to join them. October is such a good month for races. The weather has cooled down, but it isn’t too cold. The trees are like fireworks as you run underneath — showering you with their amazing array of colors. And, if you play your cards right, you can go into the holiday season feeling fit and awesome so that you feel confident about taking that slightly larger piece of pie.
Micah and I are going to do the Miles for Midwives 5K. It’s actually the same race I did last year when I was 38 weeks pregnant. My goal is the run faster this time than I did last time. Shouldn’t be too hard. And it’s a fun race to run anyway because there are so many kids there, lots of goodies at the end, and it is for a good cause — helping those who help women through childbirth.
Please join me in running a 5K in October. There are plenty of races out there . . . I’m sure there’s a good one near you.
PS — We moved into our new place today. Hooray! It only took 3 1/2 hours from when we started taking boxes down the stairs in our old place to when we brought the last box into our new place. It was amazingly smooth. I am so excited to get settled in here. Thanks to everyone who helped.
